Growing Strong Roots
A tree needs strong roots to sway with the wind. Just like someone who uses the wind element needs to balance it out with the earth element.
The wind element is what keeps us alive and free flowing. It gives us the ability to shift our focus from one area to another in an instant. It is also a great starter of new ideas and actions.
Our modern day society is mainly driven by the wind element, constantly moving its focus from one thing to another, leaving the old behind to climb new mountains. We can observe this behavior in our media, in the business world, our consumption patterns and even in our relationships.
Humanity at large loves quick fixes and instant gratification, jumping from one activity to another, never really sticking around for contemplation and recharge. This is not a sustainable or balanced way of life.
When we introduce an equal amount of the earth element, we can use our strong roots to stay grounded, focused and aligned inside any kind of windstorm.
With strong roots we can sway with the wind. Allowing ourselves to be refreshed, renewed and cleansed of the stagnant energy and heaviness that the earth element holds.
For the past three years the four natural elements have been my teachers, arriving one by one to teach me about life balance. By embodying each element I have received first hand experience of their nature, their function and their wisdom.
And I have been building strong roots so that I can sway with the wind, just like a tree.
